Mani Monday: Saran Wrap

Have you seen this kind of nail yet? You put your base coat down (2 coats of black) then add a top coat of whatever color (this strange beetle green) and while its when you pat your nail with scrunched up saran wrap. It's kind of cool, I must say, and super easy to do, though I did pat a couple nails on my right hand too soon and it took off a bit of the black as well.. Not really noticeable though.

The Sky Is The Limit

I am really starting to love all the galaxy DIY projects that are going on right now. It's nice to see such an underestimated thing of beauty (this whole wide galaxy of ours!) being appreciated. Here's my favourite galaxy tutorials to share with you!

Please if you have the source for this.. All I can find is dead links and tumblr posts
These are gorgeous! I think I should start making envelopes out of everything..

Kick drum on the basement floor.

Is this not the most beautiful photo ever? I can't find who owns it to credit it. If you know please tell me!

Wow, it's the end of August. Where did these past few months go??? Time has been flying and I'm getting into the mood where all I want to do is go on hikes in crisp air with crunchy leaves. Along with these feelings, I'm trying to figure out.. What shall I be for Halloween?? I can't believe I haven't decided yet. Sheesh.

Cheshire cat, cannot find the source, but amazing.
Glitterati
Photo from Imats Makeup Convention, I do believe.

From Comic Con, I believe.
Invader Zim.
So many inspiring possibilities. Who else is thinking this far ahead?

I feel like I've been letting this blog slip over time, and I'm sorry for that. I want to get some more interesting posts on the go from now on, though I believe not having a car is definitely affecting things since I don't have as many adventures to talk about. I promise to put more effort forth though!

She Sells Sea Shells.

I knew as soon as I made the first one of these for the pendant swap that I had to make more. I believe that being away from the east coast is making me miss it, and that brief trip home really solidified that feeling. All I want right now are crashing waves, cliffs, walks searching for beach glass and seashells galore. I hope you enjoy looking at these as much as I do.

All currently available shell pendants can be found here

Scarf Fun

When I was a child we used to have 2 big bags of scarves that I would wrap around myself in various ways and make all sorts of outfits with, and my mom has dozens of pictures in an album of this. That's part of the reason why I love how scarves as clothing are coming back in fashion. Tie them together, tie them around yourself.. They're lightweight, come in many patterns, and super versatile!

Link to tute no longer working on the Glamourai page, if you have a good link I'd love it.
I went to Value Village today and got a couple cute scarves that I wanted to remodel into shirts, here's to hoping they turn out good!

Business in the Front, Party in the Back

No, I'm not talking about mullets ;). I'm talking all the great shirts and dresses coming out now that look normal in the front, and for the back there's mesh, lace, bows and cut outs galore. This look seems to be popping up a lot in stores and fashion lately, and once I get some time to sew I plan on making quite a few shirts like this for summer. Until then, my inspiration! The best part of these shirts is how easy some of them are to make with only a little bit of time and effort. Trust me, once I make them I'll show you what I mean.

Sorry I can't source a lot of these. I'm trying to track them down but unfortunately I used to save lots of inspirational pictures on my computer without any info on where they came from.. I never planned on having a blog ;).

Colorful dreams of spring.

I can't wait for spring. I'm imagining colors galore and cute outfits that aren't hidden under coats, hoodies, scarves and hats. I'm aiming to dress nicer (I've only recently been comfortable wearing skirts and shorts, and I shouldn't let them go to waste in the closet) and to bring some more color into my spring since I miss it so much.

See, I used to be a very colorful person in the hair department (I'll throw in a couple pictures below :P), and the only thing stopping me from going back and dying it again is remembering how high maintenance it was, along with having to be an adult with a job that doesn't allow it.. Pfft..

Hopefully my spring will look a lot like this, glitter, open backed tops, and colorful hair pieces when the urge gets too strong...

New semi-natural hair color?
Shirts like this with big glam necklaces.
Getting my but in gear and making shoe clips.
Anthro hoodie.
Glitter eyeshadow, Rock this alllllll the time.
Clip in bangs, for when the urge gets too strong. From here.
Gorgeous flowing tops like this scream nice weather. From here.
PS: The new fun. album can be previewed a week before its release on their website here. I don't know what I think of it yet. Some songs I adore and some are autotuned to death and make me sad. I don't know if they'll grow on me. Part of me hopes so, since their first album is amazing. Give it a listen!

PPS: Like I said I would include, a few colors I've had.

Etsy Inspires

I thought today I would share with you a few people that I just find outstandingly inspiring on etsy. They're so imaginative, creative, and best of all, they're doing what they love for a living. Who could ask for more?!

So now, in no particular order...

Seriously, how amazing is this woman?! Just look at her shop. Or if you really want to see what she's made of, look at her sold orders (there's many more of those)! So much to look at. So much color, leather, fabric and pattern combinations and spikes. I can't get enough.

I'm not big on vintage clothing, but Shrinkle's original items are awesome (I so want the dress below) and she's extra amazing because she made her own makeup line (Sugarpill) which features the most pigmented eyeshadows I've seen (I've yet to own any, sadly, but I will someday!)

(That's the owner of Shrinkle right there, btw. How amazing is she?)

Super fun polymer clay jewelry unlike I've ever seen. Zombie cupcakes, brains in every shape and color, this stuff is right up my alley! I always enjoy seeing her work (and I noticed, shes from Toronto. Yay Canadian!)

Cut steal and acrylic jewelry in gorgeous designs. This shop owner I can say from experience is wonderful. I bought the wonderful necklace featured above and it was shipped in its time frame, came in a cute little box with 2 stickers with her logo on it (and a business card as well, I believe *amazing memory*) and the quality is great. Nice dainty little chain, super great stuff. And so many amazing designs.

There's many more, but I figured I'd stop before this list got overwhelming. Tell me, who do you find inspiring??
