Follow Me Elsewhere!!!

The apartment is torn apart, things are packed, thrown out or waiting for a place to go.
Vaccines have been given, insurance bought and things cancelled.

This is happening!

I'm going to be away from the computer for a bit, and I'm not sure where I'll be able to post things once I get there. The best way to get updates for now will be through instagram and tumblr, and so I highly suggest you follow me on those for fun updates about adventures and crafty fun in China!

Easily manageable haircut for my travels.
We went to see Winterlude on Valentine's Day.

Packing up a book I forgot I had.
Dad's up visiting and helping us move our stuff. Please ignore all the crap in the background. :)

Eating chips and blogging is where it's at.

Hello! I know, I haven't posted in AGES! I honestly haven't had anything to share with you and so I've been doing other things. I ran out of resin, I've been working, so I hadn't had anything to show off. A few days ago though I made my way up to Michael's, loaded up on resin, and I've got some great new things poured and set :). I'm getting the opportunity to sell some necklaces at work this Saturday so that's pretty exciting! Other exciting things happening Saturday include me being allowed to open my secret santa presents (and show off not only what I got but what I made with you) and my mom is coming up for a visit! Yeah, I'm pretty stoked. She's going to be here until almost Christmas. It's going to be awesome!

Yes, 2 of these spoons I made ages ago and the third I peeled the resin out to redesign the spoon. The 2 smaller are presents.

This is really hard to photograph, but the paint inside is so rainbow-y that it looks blue, green, yellow and pink!

Another shot..

One of my favourite new pieces. The shape of this spoon is astounding!

Favourite Things: Winter Edition

Okay, it's cold out. Officially. I have switched out of my moto jacket and into my winter coat. Scarves, hats and gloves are now not only fashionable but necessary.  My favourite things this season?

Cozy winter tights in all sorts of colours and patterns. I'm waiting on this pair to come in the mail. (Ebay, if you're wondering)

Cranberry scented everything! My collection of cranberry scents includes parfume, hand lotion, lipgloss, and this home fragrance oil. Mmmmm.

Cute outfits with cozy sweaters.

This insane sweater! Now I normally don't like this style of sweater much (people make a lot of bad color choices with them I find, neon pink and purple and floor length? Guh!) but the colors in this one are gorgeous. So much so that I am planning a trip to Value Village on their sale day (Nov 19th for Canadians) to get as many brown sweaters as I can to make this.

The Body Shops new highlighter pencils. I have the palest one, it's a beautiful creamy shimmery highlight that is going to be a regular in my makeup collection this season.

My Purple Urchin mango body butter. It smells amazing and feels just as nice. Support local, make healthy choices with your skin care, and check these ladies out!

And an awesome tutorial I have coming up for you for some super cute holiday jewelry! But you won't see that until after the craft fair when I have everything done. ;)

Abandoned Everything

I went down and applied for another craft show yesterday, the same one that I did last year around this time. I had forgotten about it for a while so I assumed it filled up but when I emailed she said there still might be a chance so hopefully I hear back some positive news in a couple of weeks. I would love to be able to get another show in so soon after the other, and then keep it going at that speed.. :P

While we were out we did some exploring of some more abandoned places. I didn't get any good pictures of the first one but this old train bridge was really cool. All covered in graffiti, this one being my favourite.

I don't know who was writing this, but they will just have to accept that their clever drawing of a dinosaur within the word RAWR will be used by me from now on and there's nothing they can do about it. It's too good not to spread around.

Absolutely gorgeous colors are out now. I think now is the time to try drying out leaves for experiments.
Ever notice how making jewelry can make one sound like a mad scientist? Experiments! Buahahaha.

We also found these interesting photographs pasted around a bike trail, though most were defaced stupidly, they were also beautiful.

This was the closest thing I've gotten to a hike in a long time, and it was wonderful.

Grand Theft Bus

I don't go out to bars very often. Once when my brother was in town for a drink (literally just one), I got the 'Cape Breton Punch' and it was just as awesome as I had hoped it was. I don't remember all the ingredients or which bar it was as they are lining the streets in the market but.. Anyway. We (the Mr and I) went to Mavericks last year to see the creepshow, and went again the other day to see Grand Theft Bus, a wonderful band from the maritimes. It was a nice bit of that east coast feel that I don't get enough here in Ottawa, and I have a feeling at least half the people there were from somewhere out that way. Flicker State opened for them, a band from Montreal I do believe..

Grand Theft Bus
Rum and cokes, dancing, loud bass, more dancing, and me saying 'by' and 'buddy' a lot, just cause I could.

Flicker State
Now if only some more east coast bands would come out this way, instead of going from Toronto to Montreal and skipping us altogether. (I'm looking at you, Slowcoaster).

The photos courtesy of the Mr, I took a whole 2 pictures myself during the last song on my phone.. I need a good camera that works at night!
I actually am planning on getting an SLR of some form or another (one that I would be able to share lenses with) but it's not going to be a typical camera with typical uses. There's a company online that will alter your camera for you and peel of the IR filter on the lens. It would allow me to do infra red photography that I've always been a fan of, but it would never take a normal picture after having this done. Probably not the best for product shots and point and shoot styled pictures.

Happy Birthday Canada!

Happy belated Canada Day to everyone from here, and happy Fourth of July for all of you in the States :).

I had a wonderful Canada Day filled with bike rides in the morning, then roaming around downtown for the afternoon right into the evening seeing everything there was to see. I was amazed (and shocked) by the sheer amount of stuff going on and the amount of people!! And apparently its okay to wear only flags and body paint, judging by all the mostly naked people I saw, haha!

I had a blast, and hope everyone else did with whatever they ended up doing.

You know, just doing a backflip on a pogo. Whatev'.

It was a long, tiring but fun day, and I ended up sleeping away most of the next day recovering.

I've got a few pendants to share with you from the swap I did, but I'm going to wait until they're received before posting pictures so I don't spoil the surprise in case any of them happen to look here.

Fresh Start

Well we made it back safe and sound after a wonderful week home that went by far too quickly. Full of wedding events, good ol' Cape Breton kitchen parties, shopping (with mom), rides on the motorcycle (with dad), and visiting as many people as I could. I wish that it was a longer trip, but everyone has to come back from vacation at some point, right?

I certainly got my fix of little (and not so little) fluffy things, getting to see Salem (the best cat ever), plus dad's and a bunch others. Hopefully that will keep me tide over for a little while.

They just floated the old boat that was sunken in the river for years, so I just had to snap a few pictures when we went to take a look. See all the dark grey on the lower half of the boat? It's all clams. And they're all over the ground. The ducks were having a field day but it reeked.

Nanny has more magnets on her fridge than I have ever seen in my life. It's insane.

The Lick-A-Chick, a very popular fried chicken and fries kind of place back home, that many people from away find hilarious based on the name alone. It doesn't seem too strange to me, but then again I'm used to it. :P

Mom makes a mean strawberry shortcake. Mmm.

Lastly, a silly picture of the Mr.

I didn't have my camera with me a whole lot, and I also don't have any pictures from the wedding (of myself or the party or anything else) since I was helping him take pictures on another camera, but rest assured that it was beautiful.

I picked up a lot of supplies while I was back home (not everything I wanted to, but I got some things I didn't think I'd get either so I guess it balances out), and I'm itching to get everything redone in the shop, and get this page made over.. As well as make all those pendants for the swap I'm doing! My god I'm going to be busy. Hopefully everything looks good though when I'm done with it all.

MMM Post #3

Hello everyone! It feels like it's been forever since my last post, shame on me! I'll have everyone proudly know that I'm still following the MMM challenge without falling off the wagon at all, though most things have been repeats. Here's a few of the non repeats for you though :).

From yesterday, it was far too hot in our apartment so this lightweight knit jersey skirt did just the trick.

I finally, finally made something out of this fabric. I've had it for so many years it's not even funny. Probably close to 6 years. I forced myself to make something out of it after having half made several things and gave up on all of them, for some reason.

Aaaand because I went to see The Avengers on Saturday with my brother and the Mr, I thought this shirt was an apt choice. Also, holy hell was the Avengers amazing or what?! God I love comic book movies.

That's all my new stuff for now! I have a cake in the oven and a newly drafted pattern beside me, once I the cake is finished (I accidentally had the stove on 50 degrees too low the whole cooking time!! So I had to turn it up and leave it in extra) I'll start working on a shirt that's guaranteed to be comfy, I think :).

Little Black Dress

Our trip back to Cape Breton is in a little over a month and I'm getting very excited. Since I'm (most probably) going to be helping with the pictures for the wedding I figured I'd get something to wear that would blend in a bit (black & white) instead of what I was originally planning. So I spent a few days looking online at dresses to either make or buy. I do plan on making a little black dress (its on my 50 crafts list.. Which is sadly not looking too good) but I ended up buying one in the end.

The winner:

From www.nastygal.com, I think its so pretty. Even though it's a little tight, it's nice for summer and I'll be able to wear it on multiple occasions. And its a miracle dress that hides all the bumps :P

The runner-ups:

As you can see the others are even less casual (first polka dot one would have been okay), but it's fun to online shop sometimes right? I'll eventually get around to making my own LBD once I come across some nice fabric, until then, I can rock this sweet little dress around town!

Now to only find some shoes to go with it...

MMM Post #2

I decided to change it from weekly posts to a couple days at a time. That way it's not a huge post at the end of the week with nothing in between :).

May 6:

(I couldn't seem to get a good picture this day of my outfit so I put it on a hanger after work :P.)
Made by me: grey tanktop, resized/refashioned hoodie. For once I'm wearing a necklace not made by me, but one my aunt gave me. It's honestly one of the coolest necklaces I own! She was going to sell it at a flea market once and I told her I would buy it before it got on the table. Haha. I'll have to get a better picture of it sometime but this will give you the idea.

It makes an awesome jingly noise when I walk and is the perfect long necklace to spruce up shirts. I really should try my hand at making one similar to it so I can have it in other colors. :)

May 7:

Made by me: shredded shirt and the dino necklace :). One thing I've learned about these shirts is the more you wear them the longer they get! This is the oldest one I have (the 2nd I made, the first I didn't like and I got rid of) and it hangs past my knees in the back. Its kind of amazing, actually! I feel bad though, I went for quite the walk this day (to the mall to get new headphones) and I ended up breaking my poor dinos arms off. I figured it would happen eventually cause my purse strap sits right where he does but still.. Poor little guy! I'll have to make him some more.

May 8:

It was a super rainy day here and I was running out of clothes to wear before doing repeats so I used the weather as an excuse to wear my super snug spider web hoodie. A couple years ago Value Village was selling a whole bunch of stretchy fleece throw blankets in halloween patterns (spider webs, skulls, candy corn, etc). I used 2 blankets for the hoodie since the fabric only stretched one day and I regret to this day not buying more. ($5 a blanket, roughly a meter by a meter and a half, not bad!). I still have one blanket in the skull and crossbones fabric left and have a list of things it will be to decide between. I didn't get the chance to take a picture so here's an old one from my craftster account.

This is comfier than anything I've ever made.

May 9:

Today is my day off, finally! And my only one.. Boo! I got around to cutting and pinning the sleeves for a shirt (which I'll sew when I finish this post :P), and then I'll get my butt moving on the next thing. Since I'm just sitting inside all day I'm repeating my shirt from the first day, the grey tshirt.

I threw out a lot of things I made that I didn't really wear before the move to reduce the sheer amount of stuff that I have, but I'm really starting to regret it. Not only because of this challenge, but because I don't feel like I documented their existence well enough. And some things that I think are amazing! Why didn't I fix the little things and give them the love they deserve?? Oh well.. I can only hope that someone out there is loving them now.
